The first quarter of Grade 10 felt like a full-on sprint, a wild and sometimes
overwhelming race from the first day of classes to the exams. I was staring at a calendar wondering how August got here so fast. It was a period filled with new subjects, tougher assignments, and the challenge of navigating a more demanding school life. It was a lot, but looking back now, I can honestly say I've learned more than I thought I would, not just from books, but from the everyday chaos of being a high school student. Taking a moment to pause and reflect on everything that has happened has helped me see how much I've grown and what I need to do to make the rest of the school year even better.

I came into Grade 10 thinking I knew my study habits, and I quickly realized I didn't. This quarter, I learned that just reading notes isn't enough. I discovered a technique that has changed everything for me, the Pomodoro Technique. I'd study for 25 minutes straight, then take a short 5-minute break to stretch, grab a drink, or just clear my head. Then I'd repeat the cycle. It's the difference between memorizing something for a test and actually understanding it. I somewhat leveled up my time management skill. I used to just go with the flow, but that was a mess with so many assignments and requirements from different subjects. Now, I gradually use a small planner, where I write down my deadlines and make mini to-do lists. It’s a simple change, but it's made me feel so much more in control. I've also learned the value of a good night's sleep. Pulling all-nighters just isn't worth it, a rested brain works way better than a tired one.
